Juveniles in Nests

This morning was relatively cool for June and I took advantage of the nice weather for a visit to the refuge. One of the roads that was closed for nesting activity was open. The other remained closed. Not that I'm complaining, but I don't understand why the formerly closed road is now open. I spotted a juvenile in the nest. Maybe the closure is for some other nest that I've never been able to find. Nevertheless, here's a shot of the large eaglet who looks to me as though it's close to fledging.

Eaglet in Nest
This is the first time I've ever seen an eaglet in this nest. I also checked the other nest, the one with the road closures, and it still has (at least) two eaglets. In this shot there's an adult nearby with an eaglet barely visible in front of its sibling.

I'm looking forward to more chances to photograph these juveniles when they start flying.

I have lots of osprey shots; I now hold fire unless I see the ospreys doing something that I don't have shots of. This one was circling me when I grabbed a couple of shots, one of which I liked because of the way its head and eye are just barely visible.

Love Locks Going Away

Several years ago I visited Paris. As I crossed the Seine using Pont des Arts, I noticed thousands of padlocks that were locked to the barriers. I took a few photos and moved on. Then I saw even more on a different bridge. More photos... Fast forward... I read today that the city is removing locks because of the weight and stresses they place on the bridges in Paris. Here's my favorite pair of shots of the now-gone locks.
